Funding Tips & Insights
Getting funding in Ontario is competitive, but with the right strategy, preparation, and persistence, your chances of success rise dramatically.
1
Get Organized Early
Most grants require detailed documentation, including business registration, financial statements, project budgets, and timelines. Keep these documents in one folder to respond quickly when opportunities arise.
Tip: Funders love applicants who submit early. Don’t wait until the last week to start your application!
2
Align with the Grant’s Mission
Every funding program has specific goals, such as job creation, digital innovation, community impact, or sustainability. Tailor your proposal to demonstrate how your project aligns with these outcomes.
3
Write a Clear and Compelling Story
Funders need to understand why your business or organization is important. Clearly explain your purpose, the audience you serve, and the measurable impact your project will create.
Tip: Avoid jargon. Write like you’re talking to someone unfamiliar with your field.
4
Track Application Deadlines
Many Ontario grants have short or seasonal intake windows. Create a simple calendar (or subscribe to our updates) to stay on top of new opportunities.
